Is Aluminum a Culprit?

I've often wondered if Aluminum in vaccines was a culprit of my son's hyper-sensitive immune system. It's a known neurotoxin that is used as an adjuvant in vaccines to trigger an immune response to make the vaccine effective.  The problem is that sometimes that response goes into over-drive and doesn't shut off, which is what the medical doctors suspect is what happened in my son's case.  This Age of Autism article interviews Dr. Chris Shaw who along with Lucija Tomljenovic published a study on this very topic in the August 2011 Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry titled, "Do aluminum vaccine adjuvants contribute to the rising prevalence of autism?"

In conclusion the study stated that: "Aluminum has all the necessary biochemical properties to induce neurological and immune disorders; and (iii) autism is a multisystem disorder characterized by dysfunctional immunity and impaired brain function.  Because the current safety data for Al exposure in infants and children is unsatisfactory and because this demographic represents those who may be most at risk for complications following vaccination, a more rigorous evaluation of Al adjuvant safety than what has been provided to date seems warranted."

  1. The only logical cause for these multiple allergies to food is GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD!

Foods are genetically modified by viruses (which the immune system is created to attack), they insert these viruses into food so it modifies the food.... food becomes contaminated with the virus which was used to modify it, and the body attacks it.

GMO is the culprit. Go organic! Take action to stop GMO foods, and more importantly GMO food needs to be labeled! I don't want to eat "russian roulette" foods that has viruses mixed in, NO WONDER THE IMMUNE SYSTEM ATTACKS THE FOOD!

  2. I agree that GMOs are bad news, and we avoid them like the plague by eating as organic as possible. Between the food, vaccines, and over use of antibiotics, I believe we've created a perfect storm for our kids.

  3. Eczema Mom,

We have so much in common with where our children's allergies, etc have taken us. It's ironic that you have a post about the affect of aluminum in vaccines. I myself, have been on a journey to rid our house of as much aluminum as possible. We began with our anti-persperants and switched to deodorants. Currently, I am switching between Kiss My Face Cucumber Green Tea (, Origins Organic Totally Pure deodorant (, and Crystal Roll-on (

Next, we began to remove it from our food. Yep that's right -- I was surprised to learn that baking powder often contains aluminum. Unless, you purchase the aluminum-free baking powder (which we now do from Trader Joe's), but there are other store that carry aluminum-free (

Next was cookware, removing old pots that were made of aluminum and also began (but haven't completed) removing Teflon and for that matter any non-stick cooking and switching to cast iron.

Anyway, sorry to ramble... but as I begin to peel back the layers to uncovering my son's allergies, asthma and health conditions - I am learning the issues don't just stop with the hidden ingredients in foods. I can't help but notice how he has been doing so much better since we have rid his diet of additives, preservatives, aluminum, toxic cooking and baking ingredients. It is amazing. It is also sad to see how we are being poisoned everywhere and it is being covered up.

Oh and by the way, I responded on my NAET Treatment peanut post to the questions you had.

    Take care,

  4. M&D,
Yes, our trial and tribulations with the allergy issues are so similar. I've learned that once I starte looking for answers I was no longer able to keep my head in the sand. The silver lining in it all is that my family eats so much healthier and makes better choices.

I agree with the deodarant. I'll have to check out some of the ones you listed. I've only tried Tom's, but I'm more comfortable using that in the winter :) I did remove all the teflon cookware and was also able to find Al free baking powder at Trader Joe's. I just love that store, it's made our situation much easier. I hardly ever frequent a regular grocery store. I'm also big on avoiding genetically modified foods, and we avoid soy completely.

I'll look over your blog for your answers to my questions. Sorry for all the typos I had when I commented on your blog, obviously I was in a hurry . . .
